Twooms

Twooms Tw(itter chat r)ooms

Semi-private chat rooms for Twitter

Why?

Have longer conversations in a small group and not annoy your followers.

Or, tweet about that exciting event you are at, to only those people who care.

How?

You invite your friends to follow the same 'Twoom'( an inactive Twitter user, such as @library )

Everyone starts their tweets with @library.

Only your followers who are also following @library will see your tweets

So, you can tweet away without irritating anyone who isn't interested in that particular conversation!

Not make sense? Just try it and it will...

Buzz about Twooms

“Makes positive use of #fixreplies to make small group chats”

“Here's a little idea I had on the train ...”

We hope you like it and we'll put some quotes here if anyone says anything nice!

Why these Twoom names?

We use inactive Twitter accounts as twooms. We know that some people might find that a little bit rude, but if great accounts like 'cafe' and 'office' just aren't being used, we think that's a waste. We don't claim to own these accounts, or guarantee the content of any tweets you will receive by following them to use them as a Twoom.

And if you own one of these accounts and no longer want it listed here, just ping @stef a message and we'll remove it for you, with apologies for causing you a nuisance. On the flip side, if you know who has these accounts and you think they should go to a new home that will make use of them also drop us a line!

1. Choose a Twoom

(Why these?)

If you want to suggest a Twoom, just send a tweet in the format "@twooms new @my-room-name"

2. Invite your friends

3. Follow @twoom and start chatting

Send tweets beginning with:

@twoom

To Tweet to people in the @twoom, just start each tweet with @twoom:

"@twoom hey everyone I'm back in the @twoom - who's around?"

Only people following you and @twoom will see the tweet!
